Resistance to outer salt spray (not to be carried out on components without metallic parts)

Insert the male onto its female coupling until it stops.
2.9.8.2
Plug both ends to prevent the internal chemical aggression.

Carry out, for 500 hrs, the salt spray test according to the standard 50180 – Method A1 (see
specification ASTM B-117)

After completing the tests, carry out: the leak tests mentioned in para. 2.9.1.1, the connection and
disconnection force test according to para. 2.9.2 the extraction test according to para. 2.9.4.

Resistance to zinc chloride (to be carried out only on plastic components)

Insert the male into the female coupling until it stops.

Plug both ends to prevent the internal chemical aggression.

Immerse the assembly into a zinc chloride water bath at 50% in weight for 100 hrs at 23 ± 5°C.
Note: the solution can change its concentration during the test.

Remove the inserts without rinsing or drying them and expose the female to hot air at 60 ± 2°C for 24
hrs.
2.9.9.5
Check that no corrosion breeding grounds are present.
2.9.9.6
Clean the connection with tepid water.

After completing the tests, carry out: the leak tests mentioned in para. 2.9.1.1 the connection and
disconnection force test according to para. 2.9.2, the extraction test according to para. 2.9.4, dart

Remove the couplings and rinse them with warm water.

Half of test pieces must be tested immediately after the bath; the other half after exposure to hot air at
60 ± 2°C for 24 hrs.

Evaluate the integrity of all plastic components making up the coupling (no swelling, deflections,
cracks) with 10X magnification.
